One of the key tools of growing in our faith and relationship with God, in addition to prayer, is spending time in Bible study. God's word is living and active. While it does not change, as we grow we come to see scripture in new ways based on our life and experiences.
Often it is difficult for people to be able to attend regularly any Bible studies that are offered during the week in the life of a community of faith. There are things that we can do on our own, but I would be first to admit - that I'm not always my own best motivator (independent studies take a great deal of self-motivation)
I am offering this on-line opportunity for bible study - not just so that you can receive more information about God, but to find the ways in which God is speaking in and through your own life today. Scripture meets us where we are - offering guidance, comfort, hope, grace, peace and so much more - as Jesus is enfleshed in the Word of God - and still breathes through the Bible.
While this can be a solo venture, I would invite you to share your thoughts, reflections, questions and the like to what is presented - either here or on Facebook where it will also be linked. If you do comment on this blog, it is helpful if you would sign your name so that we can know who is a part of the conversations.
This study will take different formats - sometimes with a briefer passage and just a few questions to reflect upon. Other times - like what I will begin with - it will have information as well as questions that I am using through our mid-week Faith formation group (Wednesdays at 7pm). So, if you would like to come to some of those gatherings, you will be caught up with where we are and what we are doing.
I will include resources that I will be using for the particular studies. You can also find links to others through our website - go to http://faith.trinitybrewsterny.org/ to check them out.
I would also welcome feedback on what you find helpful or what else you might find helpful.
Watch tomorrow for our intro to Romans which is what we are looking at tonight as well as on Sunday mornings during worship (beginning on 5/12)
